‘Re-Imagining Too’ is a follow-up exhibition to ‘Re-Imagining Treasures of Hyde Abbey’ and features conteporary artworks addressing the history of the Hyde region. This group show was displayed at the Winchester Discovery Centre from April 27 to May 10, 2010.
My work ‘Ascension’ is reminiscent of an archaeological cross section illustration, with historical objects and events buried under the soil. It traces the genealogy of Hyde and the surrounding area – from prehistoric times, through the Roman and Medieval eras, to the present day. Within the silhouettes of familiar objects are images acquired through my research into the project – including fragments of the Bayeux tapestry, the Winchester Psalter, as well as maps and comic books.
